The obsessive fandom over Hetalia has kept me away from it for quite awhile. However, a couple weeks ago I realized, for one, I really did like the series. I've always enjoyed learning about other countries and history (if it's presented in a fun way, which Hetalia certainly covers). And second, why should I let n00bs and fangirls keep me from liking something I liked? It's unfortunate I think that so many "fans" of Hetalia don't really get what it's all about. Of course, the series is fun to watch. I've had quite a few laughs with it and it what makes it so enjoyable. However, there's more to the series than just crack and implied yaoi. I love the history behind it. Quite honestly I've learned more about history through watching Hetalia than I can ever remember learning in school.

So, let me just take this opportunity to say if you've written it off because the fans are turning it into the next Naruto (which is unfortunate), forget all the hype and give it a chance for itself. You might just find you like it, too.

But I didn't make this album cover to argue a point. I made it so my OCD wouldn't keep knawing at me everytime I listened to Pub and Go. >>; Needs and album cover, needs an album cover...

This was pretty easy to make. Found the picture and slapped the logo on, put an outer glow on it to make the logo stand out a bit more. Ta-da~ Instant album cover.

Certain fans give the rest of the series/fandom a terrible name.

I agree. Unfortunately, it seems to be the majority of the fanbase. I've been lucky enough to find friends who are serious about it when it comes to cosplay, but as for the rest, it's sort of being dragged down into the category of Naruto and Kingdom Hearts. Which I think is a shame. D=

Yeah. I think the Kingdom Hearts analogy fits a bit more in the regard that it actually IS a good series. The fans have just made it so...eh.

Well, so far I've got planned: Austrian Succession!UK, normal UK, Gakuen!Swiss, normal Swiss and maybe Russia. We'll see how that pulls through. I have some friends nudging me to do Britannia Angel, too, which might happen since it's so simple. We'll see. <3

Also I agree with you, I don't want Hetalia become the next Naruto!! D': That would be so bad...
I think the people don't get it's make over a real story... The WWI and WWII were awful and it's sad it became popular thrhough yaoi. Like, Germany past trough Belgique to attack France. I saw some sex scene, some sex scene where Belgique is happy with it!! What the hell but I can say it was more a rape than something else.
IO think yaoi is funny through anime like this, cause it's unnusual but god fangirls sometimes :C

Huh, I have yet to run into any fans like what you've mentioned, but I do agree. It is sad that the fanbase seems to be ruining the series for others. And I also agree that there's much more to the series than the silliness and pairings. It's very informative and interesting, and there's deeper meaning to it. Also, history used to bore me to tears before I came across Hetalia! ^^;
